1 October 2010

Buckinghamshire will host a new flagship event that will identify and showcase businesses set to shape the future of UK industry.

‘The Big Bang’ is being founded by the Bucks and MK Innovation and Growth Team and will aim to create a knowledge network for local high-growth business leaders throughout the region.

The event will help businesses set for rapid growth gain inspiration from other successful entrepreneurs and businesses and discuss the support they may require as they become leading figures in their industries. Local businesses expecting around 20% annual growth over the next 3 years and with investment potential are being encouraged to attend free of charge.

Key speakers include the ‘Beermat Entrepreneur’ Mike Southon, Senior Manager of New Business Development at Google Debbie O’Sullivan and author and internet banking guru Mike Harris.

The day long summit will also incorporate a number of interactive “in the trenches” sessions which will offer practical support on getting hold of angel funding, dispelling the myths around open innovation and creating winning teams. Topical issues and opportunities such as The Paralympic Games, Cloud Computing and Low Carbon Living will also be addressed. Over around 100 businesses and leading figures should be attending.

Event sponsors include the Institute of Directors, Federation of Small Businesses, Buckinghamshire Economic & Learning Partnership, Milton Keynes Economy & Learning Partnership, Invest MK, Aylesbury Vale District Council and Wycombe District Council.
