The Government has announced that all Regional Development Agencies (RDAs), including SEEDA, will close by 31 March 2012.
Responsibility for economic development and regeneration in England is being passed onto successor bodies, including Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs) and central Government departments
Our objective is to ensure a professional and cost effective closure by this date. We have pledged to work closely with our partners, contractors and stakeholders to ensure that the past and future economic benefits of key programmes and assets continue to deliver the greatest economic value for the South East and value for money for the taxpayer.

Innovation and growth support
South East Business Innovation and Growth Teams unlocked and drove forward businesses with the greatest potential to innovate, grow and launch internationally. They provided tailored coaching, mentoring and networking opportunities to businesses of all sizes. Staffed by experienced business professionals, the support tailored to the needs of each business to help maximise their growth and development.
SEEDA funded a regional network of Innovation and Growth Teams (IGTs) to bring together expertise at a local level to help companies develop:
- new products
- technological breakthroughs
- new services
- business models or processes.
These IGTs focused on five areas of support:
- starting a high growth business
- innovation advice and guidance
- coaching for high growth
- understanding finance for business
- business collaboration and networking.
