A CRUCIAL NEW BUSINESS LINK FOR SLOUGH
ENTREPRENEURS
27th October 2003
Improving
the survival rate of new businesses in the Slough area, accelerating
the growth and expansion of young companies, and encouraging
entrepreneurial thinking are just some of the challenges facing
Nina Sian, following her appointment as Director of the Slough
Enterprise Gateway.
Commenting on Nina's appointment, Jeff Alexander, Director
of Business and International Division of the South East England
Development Agency (SEEDA) said "I am extremely pleased
that Nina has agreed to become Slough Enterprise Gateway Director.
She is a well-known face in the local business community, coming
from Business Link Berkshire & Wiltshire and knows intimately
the local business environment and the community. With her extensive
experience in advising start-ups and SMEs and her wide network
of contacts, she will be a considerable asset to the Enterprise
Gateway Initiative as a whole".
The Slough Enterprise Gateway is part of a new regional network
of business support services, supporting the nurturing and developing
of entrepreneurs and young businesses through the provision of
physical incubation accommodation, business support networks
and other targeted services. 'Enterprise Gateways' is
a joint initiative by the South East England Development Agency
(SEEDA) and Business Link, with 20 planned to be developed in
the next five years.
Nina commented, "Having worked as a Customer Information
Advisor at the local Business Link, I have come into contact
with and advised a large number of companies as well as entrepreneurs
looking to try and develop an innovative new business concept.
She continued, "The Slough Enterprise Gateway initiative
is a fantastic addition to the advice and resources currently
available to small or new businesses and it goes further by offering
incubation accommodation as well. I'm really excited about
starting and confident that the positive impact this initiative
can make to the business community in Slough and the surrounding
areas."
