SEEDA welcomes Cabinet to Southampton

SEEDA Chairman James Brathwaite CBE discusses business with Chancellor Alistair Darling in Southampton.

Organised with significant help from SEEDA and GOSE, the Prime Minister followed the meeting with a Q&A session with local stakeholders including SEEDA-nominated businesses, in which he announced the launch of the 'Real Help Now' website, listing the action being taken around the country to tackle the recession, as well as 21,000 new public sector apprenticeships. He then went on to praise the RDAs, recognising the role that RDAs and Business Link played in maintaining Business Competitiveness.

Later, Cabinet ministers visited a number of SEEDA-linked projects and businesses. SEEDA Chairman, James Brathwaite CBE, and board member Professor Bill Wakeham, both accompanied Alistair Darling to a business lunch at the National Oceanography Centre, while Lord Drayson visited Perpetuum, a hi-tech business backed by their local Enterprise Hub and Jonathan Shaw visited SEEDA-backed space technology company Astrium.
