Grant for Research and Development (R&D)

For businesses looking to carry out research or development of a technologically innovative product or process


 

Selective Finance for Investment in England (SFIE)

For businesses which serve (or plan to serve) more than a local market, and are looking to invest in capital equipment, which will result in gains in productivity through expansion of the business, including job creation.

         

Which size company can apply?

  • Small and Medium-sized businesses (SMEs)

Grant Amounts Available

  • £5,000 to £500,000
  • 35% – 60% of eligible project costs

 

 

Grant Amounts Available

  • £10,000 to £2m*
  • 7.5% – 35% of eligible project costs

*in exceptional cases larger grants may be available

All grants are discretionary and there is no automatic entitlement. SFIE is a national Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform
(BERR) scheme. Grant for R&D is a Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills (DIUS) scheme. Both grant schemes are governed by strict criteria which must be met for businesses to be eligible to apply.
