South East Centre for the Built Environment (SECBE) - click here to visit the web siteThe built environment is one of the most important economic sectors in the UK accounting for 75% of the nations wealth. From a skyscraper to a lamppost, the built environment is made up of everything that provides a platform for human activity. It has a profound effect on the social, economic and environmental well-being of the nation and underpins many other business sectors.

The South East is home to 27% of the UK's firms in this sector with 37,000 companies engaged in delivering the built environment. Clients, developers, designers, contractors and suppliers employ nearly 300,000 people generating £18 billion per annum.

The South East Centre for the Built Environment (SECBE) is a key strategic consortium that exists to help businesses in the South East build a better environment through better business.

Owned and driven by its business members, SECBE's programmes of work are underpinned by three core values: collaboration, education and innovation.

Working groups of leading business and stakeholder organisations provide strategic leadership in four priority areas:

  • Client Leadership People Performance
  • Planning Process Business performance

SECBE Provides three core services to the built environment sector:

  • Information and networking
  • Influence – brokerage between business and regional/government bodies
  • Improvement – relevant business tools and services
