The European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development: Europe investing in rural areas

Rural Development Programme for England (2007-2013)

 

The Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE) opened for business on 18 th January 2008 and will run to 2013. The RDPE is jointly funded by the EU, through the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and the UK Government.

The RDPE provides a wide range of support for capital and revenue projects and training for farmers, growers, foresters, rural businesses, food businesses and rural communities. The activity and cost of your project dictates how you should access the funding. To find out the best course of action for you and your project, follow the guidance offered below. If you experience any difficulties, please do not hesitate to contact the RDPE Team at SEEDA using the details at the bottom of this page.

Funding for Diversification

Training

RDPE supports training, group based advice, information provision and the uptake of the latest technology for all adults within agriculture, food and forestry businesses.  The overall objective is raise the overall level of skills in the farming, food and forestry sectors as a means of improving the competitiveness of these industries and the contribution they can make to a better environment and healthy and prosperous communities.

Funding for Water Management

If you are looking for funding towards a project relating to water management (eg. an on farm reservoir), grants can be accessed directly from SEEDA. To find out more, click on the link below.

Community Projects

If you are seeking funding for a community project, you must be located within a Leader Local Action Group area in order to access funding. For more information about Leader, the areas covered and who to contact, click on the link below.

All other projects

If you are seeking funding for an activity other than those listed above (e.g. renewable energy, forestry, adding value to agricultural products, modernising agricultural holdings) then the value of your project dictates where you should access the funding.

If you are seeking less than £50,000 grant (projects are typically funded at 40% of the eligible costs) then you must be located within a Leader Local Action Group area in order to access funding. For more information about Leader, the areas covered and who to contact, click the link below.

If you are seeking more than £50,000 grant (projects are typically funded at 40% of the eligible costs) then you can access funding directly from SEEDA. For more information on applying to SEEDA directly, click the link below.
